Give the Gift of Heat & Heart: Help Western Bring Warmth to a Utah Family

A warm home means a place to gather, rest, and feel comfortable when winter arrives. But for a family facing difficult circumstances, a failing furnace can bring worry—and a replacement may feel out of reach.

This season, Western Heating, Air & Plumbing is partnering with FM100.3 for Gift of Heat & Heart to give one deserving local family a new furnace. And you can help us find the person who needs it most.

More Than a Decade of Giving Back

Western’s Gift of Heat tradition began in 2015. Over the years, community nominations have introduced us to people whose generosity shines through even during hardship. Our first recipient was a widow from American Fork who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite her own challenges, she had made and donated thousands of blankets for people in need. Helping bring warmth back into her home was a meaningful way to return some of the kindness she had shared with others.

In 2022, we met Aura, a single mother undergoing treatment for stage 4 breast cancer. Missed work and a furnace that wouldn’t stay running made an already difficult season even harder. A thoughtful nomination gave our team the opportunity to provide a new furnace so she could focus on her recovery and her daughters. We also learned that Aura collected winter clothing for others in need—continuing her own tradition of giving back.

Another recipient, Lynda, was nominated by her granddaughter, Taylor. Lynda had stepped in to raise her grandchildren after their mother passed away, but her aging furnace struggled to keep her home warm. With help from FM100.3, we surprised her with a new furnace. Taylor later shared that her grandmother could finally read in bed without feeling cold.

Those everyday moments are what make this program so meaningful.

Now, more than a decade later, that spirit continues: using what we do best to help our neighbors through difficult times.

What This Year’s Recipient Will Receive

The 2026 gift includes a new furnace, complete installation, and removal of the old furnace at no cost to the recipient. We will provide a high-efficiency furnace if it’s compatible with the home, subject to the official rules.

Nominations are open through November 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

How to Nominate Someone

Think of a neighbor, friend, or family member whose home—and winter—could be changed by this gift.

To submit a nomination:

• Visit the Gift of Heat & Heart nomination page.

• Complete the entry form.

• Write 100–500 words in English explaining why the nominee needs a furnace and the difference it would make in their life.

Nominators and nominees must be eligible Utah residents age 18 or older within FM100.3’s Salt Lake City listening area. Nominees must own the residential property where the furnace would be installed. Additional eligibility requirements apply; please review the official contest rules before entering. No purchase is necessary.
