Four Common Signs You Need Heat Pump Repair
The heat pump in your home is a clever device; a dual purpose, low energy pump that can transfer air and either heat or cool your home.
Spotting early signs of failure or problems can often save you a little money in the long run, but what should you look for?
Cycle times
Your unit may be switching on and off too often, this is a classic symptom of a clogged or dirty filter, it’s worth checking that before calling out the repair man!
Not coming on
If your heat pump doesn’t come on when it is supposed to, check all the controls are set to on and then try it manually. If it still doesn’t come on, it is a sign of something more serious.
Low efficiency
If your heat pump doesn’t seem to heat up as it should, it could be a refrigerant leak. Whilst this isn’t something that can be fixed by you, it is quite easily sorted with the right equipment and is quite common.
Unusual noises
In any mechanical piece of equipment, strange and unusual noises should always be investigated sooner rather than later, don’t let it turn into a catastrophic failure.
Whilst we have listed some common faults and problems, you will know your system better than anyone, anything out of the ordinary should be monitored. You should always take professional advice on what the problem is and how to fix it before it does further damage, it is better to catch it early than when it has caused more damage.
