Salt Lake City is known for its stunning mountain views but is also notorious for poor air quality, especially during winter inversions. Unfortunately, the same pollutants that fill the air outside can enter your home, affecting your health and comfort.

Your home should be where you can breathe easily, but microbes, dust mites, pet dander, and bacteria can circulate in the air, potentially triggering allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues. It may be time to take action if you’re experiencing frequent headaches, itchy eyes, or worsening respiratory symptoms.

Services & Products We Offer

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for eliminating indoor air contaminants, so we offer our customers a range of products and services.

Whole Home Humidifiers

Dry indoor air can cause itchiness and discomfort. While poor indoor air quality is often associated with pollutants and contaminants, inconsistent humidity levels can also impact your health and comfort.

During Salt Lake City’s cold, dry winters, running your heating system can strip moisture from the air, leading to dry skin, irritated sinuses, and increased dust in your home. Low humidity can also weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to colds, flu, and other illnesses. Installing a whole-home humidifier helps restore optimal humidity levels, improving comfort, reducing allergens, and even lowering the risk of sickness. If you invest in one thing to improve your indoor air quality, a humidifier is our top recommendation for a healthier, more comfortable home.

Air Scrubbers

Wouldn’t it be great to eliminate dust, mold, and viruses before they reach your indoor air? An air scrubber can do this.

An air scrubber is a type of air purifier that is installed directly in your ductwork. As air passes through the ducts, the air scrubber uses UV light technology and oxidizers to treat it, effectively killing any mold or bacteria present. This product offers a simple and discreet way to maintain healthy indoor air. Western provides air scrubber installation in Salt Lake City.

Air Duct Cleaning

Improve Your Indoor Air Quality in Salt Lake City, UT - Western Heating, Air & Plumbing

Air ducts play a vital role in your HVAC system, continuously circulating warm or cool air throughout your home. However, over time, dust, debris, and other contaminants can accumulate inside, affecting your indoor air quality and spreading allergens throughout your living space.

We recommend professional air duct cleaning every three to five years to keep your air clean and your system running efficiently. A trained expert can thoroughly remove built-up debris and ensure your ducts are free from dust, allergens, and unwanted germs—helping you breathe easier at home.

Air Duct Repair

If you’re experiencing hot or cold spots in your home, it may indicate that your air ducts need repairs. Even with regular maintenance, air ducts don’t last forever. As they deteriorate, you may notice strange noises, unexplained spikes in your energy bill, and inconsistent heating or cooling.

Western specializes in repairing damaged ductwork, which can enhance the efficiency of your HVAC system and improve indoor air quality.

Kyle and Chris came yesterday to upsize my furnace return filter. They even offered to reposition it higher in the vertical duct so I don’t have to kneel down on concrete which was much appreciated. I like that the techs had everything they needed on their truck and could handle everything including handling payment. They were friendly and they never left until the job was done and cleaned up the mechanical room as they left

Micheal and Glen came out to my house today to do a tune-up on my a/c and furnace units. I was so impressed by how professional and knowledgeable they are. My units are 21+ years old and have probably never been serviced. I was not prepared for good news regarding them but wanted to see if I could get a little more time before having to replace them. Michael walked through everything with me in great detail taking pictures and videos so I could see what he and Glen were seeing as well. They answered all my questions and were very honest about what they could and could not do to repair the units, which I appreciated greatly. I have never experienced this level of customer service with any other repair company in my life. I’m so impressed! I highly recommend Western for all your HVAC and plumbing needs. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for everything Michael and Glen you guys are amazing!!!

We have been very pleased with all the service technicians who have serviced our equipment, and were similarly happy with Carson, who came this week to check our furnace. He was thorough in checking all the required items on the service checklist, and as I like to understand what the work, Carson explained what he was doing and why, and how the system functioned. We regretted that we couldn’t justify purchasing some of the equipment recommended to improve the furnace operation, but it was a five-star experience. Thank you, Western, for the excellent technicians you have sent us, and thank you Carson, for your pleasant and thorough assistance.

Indoor Air Quality FAQs

How much does an indoor air quality test cost?

The cost of an indoor air quality inspection depends on the size and space of your home and the type of analysis needed. For more pricing information, please contact us at (801) 224-8899.

What are the signs of poor air quality in my home?

Frequent sneezing, coughing, headaches, and new or worsened respiratory issues are all signs of bad indoor air quality. If you or a household member experiences these symptoms soon after arriving home, you will likely have poor indoor air quality. Give us a call, and we can discuss solutions with you.

How can I get the cleanest air in my home?

If the weather permits, open your windows. Fresh air helps reduce the buildup of contaminants. Removing your shoes before entering your home can also prevent pollen, fungi, and bacteria from getting past the front door. Additionally, certain houseplants are great for natural air purification.

Is a whole-home humidifier a good investment?

Yes! A whole-home humidifier is a wise investment, especially in dry climates like Salt Lake City, where winter heating can strip moisture from the air. Low humidity levels can lead to dry skin, irritated sinuses, increased allergens, and even higher risks of colds and flu. Proper humidity also helps reduce static electricity, prevent wood furniture and flooring from cracking, and make your home feel warmer—allowing you to lower your thermostat and save on energy bills. With so many benefits, a whole-home humidifier is one of the best upgrades for your indoor air quality and overall comfort.

Can I clean air ducts myself?

It isn’t recommended, and you won’t be able to clean all of your ducts. A professional from Western can quickly and efficiently clean hard-to-reach and out-of-sight areas.
