The Gift of Heat and Heart: A Holiday Tradition
Every year, as the air turns crisp and snow blankets the mountains, the Western Heating & Air team embraces the season with a tradition close to our hearts: the “Gift of Heat” program. It’s more than a furnace—it’s about bringing comfort, joy, and hope to families facing life’s challenges with courage and resilience. This year, the story of Lynda and her granddaughter, Taylor, reminded us why this tradition means so much.

Lynda’s home has stood for 106 years, a piece of history with walls that have seen countless memories. But as winters came and went, her old furnace struggled to keep up. Even on the coldest nights, warmth was scarce. Lynda, a grandmother who stepped up to raise Taylor and her siblings after her mother’s passing, never let the chill in her home dim the warmth in her heart. Taylor, now grown, wanted to give her grandmother something she could never buy—a cozy, warm home where she could rest without worry.
Taylor nominated her for the Gift of Heat, sharing a heartfelt story about Lynda’s resilience and selflessness:
“My grandma has always been someone you know you can go to when you need anything. She lost her husband (my grandpa) to COVID a couple of years back, and everything has been hard since, but she still very willingly helps anyone who needs it. The last couple of years have been very cold in their home because of a failing heater, and this would be a huge blessing. She is in her 70s, and there are also 3, soon to be 4, little ones 8 years and younger that would benefit greatly before the cold season hits, and they have to see if the heater works enough to last the season.”

It was clear to us that this precious family needed warmth—not just in their home but in their hearts. With the help of FM100.3, we were thrilled to surprise Lynda with a brand-new furnace. The look of disbelief and gratitude on her face was unforgettable.
Later, we learned that Lynda and her great-grandchildren suffer from asthma, so we also gifted her an air purifier to help improve the air quality in their home and alleviate their breathing issues.
The next day, Taylor sent us a message which captures the meaning of this program:

Stories like Lynda’s remind us why we began the Gift of Heat program nine years ago. It all started with Janet, a kind woman who made blankets for children in need.
