Gift of Heat for the Holidays ’22

About the Gift of Heat & Heart Program

One of our favorite traditions at Western Heating & Air is to share the “Gift of Heat” with a deserving family in need. We look for people who need a new furnace, but because of means beyond their control, are not able to replace the one they have.

This holiday season, our wonderful partner, FM100.3, helped us promote the Gift of Heat and Heart program on their radio station. We accepted nominations from the community for several weeks and received dozens with many heartbreaking stories. It’s very difficult to choose just one family to help and we hope for additional sponsors in coming years so we can award more than one furnace.

This Year’s Winner, Aura

This year’s winner was nominated by Dora Gutierrez. She shared that Aura was a single mother battling Stage 4 breast cancer. Because of her chemotherapy treatments Aura has had to miss quite a bit of work and was not able to afford a new furnace. In fact, we learned that she spent some of her recovery time at home watching YouTube videos to learn how to fix one. She managed to fix her furnace a couple of times, but the heat just wouldn’t stay on.

Because of Dora’s thoughtfulness, we were able to surprise Aura on December 14th with a new, high-efficient furnace and other thoughtful gifts for her family. Our team of professionals installed a furnace that will not only warm her home but save money on her energy bills. She will be able to focus on healing and caring for her two daughters, so they can enjoy the holidays and stay warm throughout her treatments.

Kindness Begets Kindness

When we had the privilege to meet Aura, we learned that she is also spreading warmth in the Latino community by collecting coats, scarves, and gloves for those in need. Her generosity and thoughtfulness are an inspiration and as she expressed her tearful, deep gratitude to us, she commented that she will pay this forward. Her kindness is contagious, and we know that she already has. Aura was the perfect winner for the Gift of Heat and Heart!
